    Scholarships, many of them from local companies and individuals, to the Odessa High School graduating class of 2017 totaled $632,634.08. Several graduates received full academic or athletic scholarships to colleges and universities near and far. Aaron Gies received the Christ Lutheran Church Faith in Life Award.   • Pacific Lake now stocked with 10,000 rainbow trout

    Pacific Lake, just a few miles from Odessa, has once again filled with water after a wet winter and spring in eastern Washington, as reported recently in The Odessa Record. Now local fishermen are on the scene, following stocking of the lake with about 10,000 rainbow trout, each 9 to 10 inches long, according to the Washington Fish and Wildlife Department.     Lowell Elmer Reese, 74, lost his battle with cancer on June 7, 2017. Lowell was born on June 10, 1942, in Odessa to Elmer John Reese and Florence Ione (Zicha) Reese. He graduated from Odessa High school. In the fall of 1960, he joined the United States Air Force. He later graduated from EWU. Throughout his life he enjoyed basketball, golf, hunting and computers.     Each year, the Washington State Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons awards somewhere in the neighborhood of a dozen scholarships for outstanding students across the state.
