The O-H Titan boys ended their bid for hardware at the state 1B basketball tournament on Friday at the Spokane Arena. On the first day of the tournament, March 1, the Titans defeated Chief Kitsap Academy by a score of 53-47. The win put them up against ACH the next day. A loss to ACH Thursday and another loss to Muckelshoot Tribal Academy on Friday sent the boys home. All of the games were hotly contested and close. The Titans can look forward to the future with anticipation, since only one senior from this year’s team is graduating.

Chief Kitsap Academy

The Titans won their first-round game as Ryan Moffet scored 25 points to pace the team. Colton Hunt added 10 and Camden Weber had nine.

Hunt led in rebounds with 11, while Marcus King and John DeWulf pulled down eight apiece. King also had five assists, and Weber had five steals.

ACH

Against ACH on March 2, the Titans faced their nemesis for the fourth time this season. As in the other three contests, the Titans were unable to stop the Warrior machine. The Warriors lost their next game to Lummi but came back with a win over Pomeroy by one point to take third place in the tournament.

Moffet scored 24 points against ACH, but didn’t have much scoring help from his teammates. Although the Titans stayed close throughout the game, they were not able to pull ahead.

Muckleshoot Tribal

Moving to the consolation bracket, the Titans still had a shot at fourth place, but it was not to be. The game started off well enough, as the Titans pulled ahead in the first few minutes. The Muckleshoot boys settled down after that and took control of the game, winning 64-58. The Titans had played close games for three days straight and looked a bit tired.

Moffet’s 32 points were not enough. Hunt added nine points, but again no one else was able to step up and provide enough additional scoring.

DeWulf had nine rebounds and Hunt had eight for the defense.

The boys finished the basketball season in fourth place in the Northeast 1B League, behind ACH, Selkirk and Wellpinit.
