Monday, April 10: Sprague ambulance personnel assisted a 59-year-old woman who apparently suffered a seizure.

A Davenport man who told dispatchers that his mother had sold his dog without his permission was advised to contact her to resolve the situation.

A 23-year-old man complained of back pain after being in a previously unreported vehicle collision on SR 174 near Grand Coulee.

Deputies investigated a report from north of Davenport of a possible domestic violence assault involving a man in his 20s and his teenage brother.

Tuesday, April 11: Responding to the 100 block of East Watson, Creston ambulance personnel assisted a 41-year-old man with breathing difficulties.

A Sprague man told dispatchers he had been “thrown to the ground” and “chased with a shovel” by another man in the 300 block of South D Street.

Deputies assisted a man who lives north of Davenport after receiving a report that he may be attempting to take his own life in the wake of a marital separation.

Wednesday, April 12: Damage resulted after two vehicles collided near the Growing Gorillas Pre-school at Zion Lutheran Church in Davenport.

A Sprague man advised he was the victim of a wire fraud scam involving someone in China.

Thursday, April 13: Dispatchers received a report of a road grader that almost caused a collision when it turned onto U.S. 2 about three miles east of Reardan.

Responding to the vicinity of Fifth and Adams streets in Davenport, a deputy advised a young boy wearing a cowboy hat to stop riding a motorcycle without the protection of a helmet.

Deputies investigated the theft of a double metal dish sink valued at about $1,500 from the Tomfoolery Pub in Wilbur.

Conducting a welfare check in the 300 block of South 4th, Odessa Police requested an ambulance for a 54-year-old man who was taken to the local hospital.

Friday, April 14: No one was reported hurt as a result of a one-vehicle rollover collision on Euclid Road just off SR 231 in the Reardan area.

Responding to the 48000 block of East Moffatt Avenue in Edwall, deputies assisted a state agency’s investigation of a residence that appeared to be overrun by mice, with food, dirty diapers, alcohol bottles and other garbage on the floor, and the presence of marijuana.

Illegal dumping was reported in the 31000 block of Fictenburg Road west of Davenport.

A trailer loaded with large bales of hay came loose from a truck traveling on U.S. 2 west of Telford Road, blocking traffic in the eastbound lane.

A caller reported a pickup truck traveling west on U.S. 2 into Davenport had been speeding, making bad passes (including passing two semi-trucks at the same time) and had forced an oncoming car from the road.

During the Missoula Children’s Theatre performance going on inside, a deputy and Davenport ambulance personnel responded to the east entrance of Davenport High School to help a 43-year-old man who collapsed and suffered a possible seizure.

Odessa Police responded to a dispute involving residents of the 400 block of South Alder.

Odessa Police were the first to respond to a report of possible poaching of a deer on SR 28 about three miles east of the town. The Washington State Patrol and the local state Fish and Wildlife officer were advised.

Reardan Police and Washington State Patrol were advised of an erratically driven vehicle traveling west on U.S. 2 from the east end of Reardan that went into a ditch, crossed the center line and went back over the fog line.

Saturday, April 15: County Public Works personnel were advised of a tree over Holderby Road between Bald Ridge and DeVore roads northeast of Davenport.

Deputies were placed on alert after receiving a call from Spokane County authorities about an individual who told a relative he was leaving Sacred Heart Medical Center and “going to Lincoln County to put a bullet in (his) head.”

Goats were out on U.S. 2 near Telford Road.

A caller told dispatchers that an erratically driven vehicle traveling west on U.S. 2 had passed five cars at once at a high rate of speed, then suddenly pulled over and stopped between Bennett and Oehlwein roads east of Davenport. A responding deputy intercepted the vehicle at Eighth and Morgan streets after it continued its way into Davenport at 65 mph.

Deputies investigated a possible assault involving two men arguing over a loose dog that ran into the side of a trailer being pulled in the 42000 block of Speigle Canyon Road near Wilbur.

Trader’s Express in Davenport reported someone drove away without paying for gas.

A man was booked into the county jail after a deputy made a narcotics-related traffic stop on Omans Road near Oehlwein Road.

A deputy escorted a vehicle with a man who experienced a reaction to medication from about 11 miles north of Davenport on SR 25 to Lincoln Hospital.

Responding to the 1300 block of Logan Street, Davenport ambulance personnel assisted a man in his 60s who consumed enough alcohol to cause him to “act funny” and experience “flashbacks to Vietnam.”

A deputy advised residents of the 900 block of Morgan Street in Davenport to stop burning yard debris in violation of city ordinance.

Three teenagers wearing dark clothing were reportedly running through people’s yards in the 0 block of SE Regent in Wilbur and “causing mischief.”

A Davenport woman asked for a deputy’s assistance after receiving “some concerning texts” on her cell phone.

Sunday, April 16: A woman reported hitting a deer and putting her vehicle in a ditch alongside Interstate 90 near Sprague. She was unhurt, but the vehicle was stuck.

Wilbur ambulance personnel assisted a man who collapsed due to pain in his head from an old injury.

A man fell asleep at the wheel and slid off into a ditch on U.S. 2 near the Telford rest area. He was not injured.

A deputy responded to a dispute between residents of Skyvista Lane near Creston concerning sheet metal that had blown from one property to another and horses that are often loose.

Someone tore the roof from a shed on property adjacent to Hawk Creek Ranch Road.

A deputy was involved in a search for a 19-year-old woman who got out of a boyfriend’s vehicle after it pulled over on U.S. 2 about three miles east of Davenport during an argument between the two. The concerned boyfriend requested law enforcement assistance in trying to find her. The deputy learned of a subsequent phone conversation between the woman and her father that seemed to indicate she was fine, although she wouldn’t tell anyone where she was.

A man working at the Sherman Cemetery, which had experienced some recent break-ins, saw two men pull up in a black vehicle, then leave. A responding deputy promised to watch for any suspicious activity.

Responding to the 100 block of North West Street, Wilbur ambulance personnel assisted a 58-year-old man experiencing chest pain.

A woman was booked into the county jail after deputies responded to the 200 block of NE Cliff Avenue in Wilbur, from which a report that an apparently intoxicated man was observed urinating in a back yard before being picked up by a woman who was intoxicated as well. The involvement of occupants of two vehicles stopped at U.S. 2 and Main Street expanded the investigation to cover the possibility of two incidents of intoxicated driving.

Criminal Sentencings

A jury on March 24 found Jason Lee Priest, 46, guilty of second-degree burglary, first-degree theft and first-degree malicious mischief in connection with the taking of more than $5,000 worth of copper conduit, hardware and wire from a building owned by American Tower Corp. on Macabee Road near Sprague between March 1 and May 8, 2015. At the time, the property owner estimated the cost of repairing the facility at $33,880. His March 28 sentence included 68 months in prison, $900 court costs and restitution to be determined. He has filed an appeal with the state Court of Appeals.

Travis Michael Hope, 25, entered an Alford (guilty) plea April 11 to second-degree burglary and three counts of second-degree theft in connection with an Oct. 30, 2016, break-in at a garage in Almira, during which bank checks, a generator, tools, firefighting gear, sunglasses, binoculars and a rifle and scope were taken. He was arrested and booked into the Grant County Jail in Ephrata after one of the stolen checks turned up with a forged signature and was used for a purchase at the Grand Coulee Safeway store. His sentence includes 29 months in prison with credit offered for time served, $800 court costs and restitution to be determined. Prosecutors reserved the right to again file two counts of theft and one count of theft of a firearm at a later time.

New Criminal Cases

William Emil Hughes, 37, of Reardan, was charged with forgery after deputies discovered seven counterfeit $20 bills in his possession March 13 while investigating reports of phony money being used for purchases at the Reardan Store, Reardan Town Hall, a Spokane Wal-Mart and the Airway Heights Dairy Queen.

Andrew Phillip Goodrich, 26, of Davenport, is charged with second-degree theft and forgery in connection with an unauthorized check for $2,331 in the name of Oregon Trail Livestock Supply that was cashed between Jan. 23 and March 13 of this year at Banner Bank’s Davenport branch.

Isaac Thomas Albe, 18, of Newport, Wash., is charged with second-degree burglary and theft of a motor vehicle in connection with an April 8 break-in and the taking of a 4-wheeler from property at 1500 Laney Road in the Odessa area.

Jerome Allen Grant, 40, who is being held in the Grant County Jail, is charged with attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle in connection with a March 20 incident involving a vehicle stolen from the Grand Coulee area that was clocked at speeds of between 60 and 100 mph on SR 174 and U.S. 2 near Wilbur.

Wells Fargo Bank filed a foreclosure action against the late Thomas E. Hutsell, Gail Hutsell and Melissa E. Hutsell, claiming $96,315.83 is owed on a $114,000 promissory note involving property at 502 Sinclair Street in Davenport.

Estate of Janiece J. Anderson, of Garfield, Wash., who died Feb. 18.

A small estates affidavit was filed for the late Gary Lee Davis, whose successor is a Grand Coulee resident.
