Larry Peters

Eugene Lawrence (Larry) Peters of Odessa died August 20, 2017. He was born on October 29, 1954 to Jack and Peggy (Asbury) Peters in Vancouver, British Columbia. He graduated from North Vancouver High School and served two summers as an army cadet.

He moved to Portland, Ore. in the late 1980s to join the American Custom Gunmakers Guild. As a member of the Guild, he became a master in the areas of stock making, metal smithing, metal finishing and engraving. He served on the board of the Guild for six years and also served on the membership and ethics committee until his death. He was also a member of the Firearm Engravers Guild as a master engraver for many years and was a member of the Gunmakers Guild.

He lived in Odessa for 13 years. Odessa residents may have seen him walking about town with his dog Drummer and visiting with folks along the way. Before moving to Odessa, Larry had become an American citizen, a fact of which he was very proud.

Larry loved to hunt, ride motorcycles and make guns. He is preceded in death by his father Jack and one brother Mike Peters. He is survived by his mother and a brother John.

Services will be held on Friday, September 1, 2017, at the Odessa Foursquare Church at 11 a.m. A luncheon will follow.
