Panthers' first annual dinner and auction

The Harrington Athletic Booster Club held its First Annual Dinner and Auction last Friday at the Larmer Barn as 120 proud supporters of Panther athletics arrived at 6 p.m. to enjoy happy-hour drinks and began bidding on the many great silent-auction items donated by local businesses and community members.

A delicious dinner of pulled pork sandwiches and German sausage was served by Eagle Catering at 7 p.m., while more silent-auction bidding took place, and raffle tickets were drawn and prizes given away. As people finished up with dinner, the silent auction tables were closed, and winners were drawn for a Panther cooler and a gift certificate for a new gun.

It was then time to begin the exciting live-auction portion of the evening. The emcee/auctioneer for the night was Harrington local, Tucker Cool, of Best Bid Auctions, LLC, who provided an entertaining atmosphere filled with many laughs and a lively live auction.

A scholarship paddle-raise was initiated toward the end of the live auction and the generous support of the boosters raised $2,335 to go to a graduating student athlete. At the end of the night the Harrington Athletic Booster Club had raised over $21,000 that will go toward improving the athletic department and supporting all the hardworking student athletes in Harrington. The Booster Club would like to shout out a big HOORAY to all those who donated items and money and also to those who bought tickets, showed up and raised their hands in support of Panther athletics.

Those who would like to keep up with what the Booster Club is doing can “like” and follow the cllub on Facebook at Harrington Athletic Booster Club or Instagram- @harringtonathleticboosterclub.

We hope to see all of you next year at the Second Annual Dinner and Auction!
