FFA students attend state convention

A total of 22 students in the Odessa High School chapter of FFA competed at the Washington state FFA convention held in Pullman on May 10-12.

The Odessa chapter was recognized for collecting the most donations for the state officers' convention service project. This year's service project was to recognize those battling cancer by highlighting the men and women who have fought and conquered the disease and also by honoring those who have lost their fight. The project involves having FFA students collect donations, the names of the men and women fighting cancer and messages of hope to be added to signs located on the Beasley Coliseum concourse, as well as pink lapel ribbons.

After the convention, the collected items were to be donated by the officers to hospitals in Spokane, Wenatchee and Seattle.

Odessa eighth-grader Kaedin Schorzman was recognized on stage for taking seventh place in the state tractor driving competition which also took place during the time of the convention.
