Editor’s note: Most items in this section reflect the starting point for response by local police and emergency agencies. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office does not release names of individuals who report possible criminal or suspicious activities to dispatchers or alleged victims for this column.

Monday, May 14: A county jail inmate’s lunch was taken by another inmate who thought he was doing a third inmate a favor to hold the lunch for him. Corrections staff advised the inmate that he was to allow them to serve meals in the future.

After being advised that a rental truck had traveled east through Wilbur on U.S. 2 at a high speed, a deputy pulled the vehicle over in Reardan after observing it was following too close behind another vehicle.

A Seven Bays woman reported a food delivery company appeared to be taking money from her bank account without permission.

A responding deputy determined that a harassment complaint originating from property adjacent to Mielke Road East near Harrington lacked sufficient evidence.

After running from a responding deputy, a man was placed into custody on a warrant from Grant County after the vehicle in which he was an occupant appeared to leave the roadway near the intersection of U.S. 2 and Rocklyn Road west of Davenport after having a flat tire.

A Wilbur man requested assistance after discovering a rattlesnake in his residence on Apache Pass Road North.

A Burlington Northern worker advised that a man in his 70s wearing a red shirt was walking down railroad tracks near Mohler.

A deputy advised a man who appeared to be camping in the doorway of the Davenport Public Library that he could do so at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds.

A woman called Odessa Police after a bag of tools and a car stereo mysteriously appeared in the back of a truck parked in the 200 block of East 1st Avenue.

Odessa Police took a report that prescription pills and a laptop valued at about $189 were stolen from a residence in the 100 block of South 4th Street.

Tuesday, May 15: Davenport ambulance personnel assisted an 88-year-old woman suffering pain from an amputation.

A state Department of Transportation vehicle was involved in a collision with a camper trailer near the boat launch on SR 25 about 23 miles north of Davenport.

A Davenport driver told dispatchers he barely avoided hitting a child on a bicycle that darted out into Third Street between Main and Maxwell.

A Creston woman on a motorcycle was killed as a result of a collision with a pickup truck on U.S. 2 near Espanola and Wood roads in Spokane County.

Deputies investigated a malicious mischief incident resulting in damage to property adjacent to Morrison Road near its intersection with Oehlwein Road east of Davenport.

A Wilbur woman reported the theft of two large bags of donated tin cans intended for the local senior center thrift store.

A man suffered minor injuries during a fight with another man at Davenport Family Foods.

A Wilbur man got stranded in a ski boat that broke down on Lake Roosevelt between Spring Canyon and Keller Ferry.

After Sprague ambulance personnel were unable to respond, their counterparts from Ritzville were dispatched to Lincoln County to deal with an allegedly suicidal man in a wheelchair who was attempting to open the door on a Greyhound bus while it traveled on I-90.

A group of juveniles continued to terrorize Sprague residents by following them home and screaming obscenities at them.

Odessa Police responded to a man’s claim that a no-contact order had been violated by another man who “stared at (him) for a long time” while the first man was at the school to pick up his son.

In a separate incident at the Odessa school, a caller claimed a protection order had been violated by someone who wasn’t supposed to be there.

Wednesday, May 16: Sprague ambulance personnel assisted an individual at a residence in the 500 block of Garfield Street in Lamont.

A dog got loose on I-90 near Sprague and almost caused a collision with two school buses.

A Davenport man told dispatchers someone has threatened to damage his vehicle.

Vicious and aggressive dogs were making residents uncomfortable along Mean Canyon Road about a half mile from Miles Creston Road.

A large sprinkler sprayed water across Devils Gap Road north of Reardan, creating a potential traffic hazard.

A Harrington woman was happy to know that the reason her 35-year-old son hadn’t returned home after being away for about two hours was that he had been out weed-eating.

Flames that were 3 feet high were observed by a caller who reported a camp trailer ablaze in the 100 block of Washington Street in Davenport.

An Odessa woman requested assistance from local police with aggressive dogs in the 300 block of South 4th Street.

Reardan Police responded to a report from Reardan High School personnel that someone had supplied pain medication to another individual inappropriately.

Thursday, May 17: A portion of SR 174 was reported to have been washed out.

A rockslide closed Neal Canyon Road.

Lightning destroyed three power poles near Euclid and Tramm roads near Reardan. Another power pole was observed on fire in the vicinity of Eleventh and Monroe streets in Davenport.

Deputies investigated a trespassing incident at a residence in the 100 block of North Second Street in Harrington.

A Lamona caller reported the front windshield on a tractor had been broken while parked outside a shop building adjacent to Iverson Corner Road. About $1,500 damage was noted.

After receiving a report from the Grand Coulee area of a possible altercation between a man and young son, a responding deputy determined no assault had occurred.

After getting equipment from DISH Network, an Odessa woman told local police she had received calls from someone demanding payment of $200.

Friday, May 18: An anonymous caller “wanted it noted” that Christmas lights remained on a house on the west end of Adams Street in Davenport.

A caller requested assistance in contacting her husband, believed to be fishing from a boat on Sprague Lake, that his doctor wanted him at a hospital for high blood sugar. Deputies from Lincoln and Adams counties were unable to find him on the lake.

A property owner on Geissler Road North advised that a 26-foot U-Haul truck had been driven through a locked gate and got stuck in a field.

A caller reported a dark green Jeep with five juvenile occupants continually travels in the 1500 block of Main Street in Davenport at speeds of more than 60 mph.

A coyote or cougar is believed responsible after a dead sheep was discovered on property adjacent to Bald Ridge Road in the Reardan area.

A deputy checked out reports of a recklessly driven vehicle traveling at high speeds throughout Wilbur.

Odessa Police responded to a report of juveniles joy-riding on property adjacent to SR 21.

Reardan Police helped collar an allegedly vicious dog that continually jumps out of his enclosure in the 100 block of East Railroad Avenue.

A Reardan caller expressed concern about possible illegal activity involving multiple vehicles coming and going at a residence in the 300 block of West Cottonwood.

Saturday, May 19: A caller advised that a group of young people in 12 to 15 vehicles consistently park on U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) property adjacent to Sterritt Road North in the Davenport area, party together, leave trash behind and tear up the ground. A responding deputy and BLM officer found no one at the scene.

A 75-year-old Davenport man required assistance at his residence in the 800 block of Washington Street after reportedly cutting his finger with a table saw.

Looking for work on Craigslist, a Wilbur man told dispatchers he provided personal information to people who responded to his post, but subsequently believes he was involved in a scam.

Personnel at Fort Spokane Store reported receiving an insufficient funds check for $27.57.

A Creston caller reported his belief that someone is taking water without permission from residences in the 300 block of SW Creston Avenue.

Deputies investigated a report of illegal burning of tree branches on property in the 1200 block of Marshall Street in Davenport.

A car went into a ditch off SR 25 about two miles north of Davenport.

A caller expressed concern about an open door on a box truck traveling on U.S. 2 on the east end of Davenport. Its driver told a responding deputy that he had tied the back door so it would remain partially open to prevent three dogs from becoming overheated.

A deputy checked out a report of a recklessly driven vehicle on Cayuse Cove Road North.

A Sprague caller expressed concern about a man and woman appearing to be camping without permission on property in the 200 block of West 5th.

A Devils Gap Road resident became suspicious of possible trespassers who parked a truck and horse trailer at the entrance gate to her property while riding horses. Before a responding deputy could get there, dispatchers learned that the riders did have permission from the caller’s son to be there.

After being dispatched, Davenport firefighters ended up not having to deal with the source of thick black smoke from property adjacent to SR 28 after learning it was a controlled bonfire.

Deputies responded to a report of a loud intoxicated man in the 0 block of South 7th Street in Almira.

Firefighters doused a blaze on property near SR 23 and Gaffney Road.

Odessa Police investigated a missing person report involving an alleged vulnerable woman.

Sunday, May 20: While hauling the trailer containing the Wilbur community float, a truck broke down near the intersection of U.S. 2 and Oehlwein Road east of Davenport. It waited there until a second truck could arrive.

Responding to Vista Manor, Wilbur and Creston ambulance personnel tended to an 88-year-old woman who injured her head in a fall.

A group of people with six motorbikes, four 4-wheelers and a couple of pickup trucks was involved in shooting guns at the end of Pineridge Drive East near Davenport. They also are believed responsible for tearing up roads in the Harker Canyon area.

Two vehicles were forced to either side of U.S. 2 while traveling west from Reardan by a recklessly driven vehicle with Texas plates that was making bad passes. A similar report involving another vehicle also was received.

A caller expressed his concern for children in the neighborhood of the LDS Church in Davenport as a result of a recklessly driven car in the 600 block of Lincoln Street.

A man was arrested for driving under the influence after a caller reported a pickup truck was “all over the roadway, almost hitting the ditch multiple times” on U.S. 2 in Davenport.

Burlington Northern personnel discovered a bent support beam on a tressel overpass over SR 28 just east of Odessa after receiving a report from a local farmer who noted an excavator being transported struck and possibly damaged the overpass. Train traffic was suspended there while an inspector did his work.

A deputy investigated a possible violation of a no-contact order involving an Almira woman and the father of her children.

Two juveniles were observed digging into the underside of a bridge near the spillway in the Sprague city park.

A collision involving a vehicle and deer took place on U.S. 2 near Wilbur. Because an airbag went off in the vehicle, an ambulance was sent to the scene.

May 14: Paula Machele Gardner, 37, Spokane, arrested by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) for making a false or misleading statement to a public servant, obstructing law enforcement officers, possession of (with intent to manufacture and/or deliver) a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.

Max Allen Gray, 30, Electric City, arrested by LCSO on two out-of-county felony warrants.

May 16: Brandon Michael Beal, 33, Davenport, held under contract with the Washington State Department of Corrections.

Sharayah Leona Kretschmer, 31, Fruitland, arrested by LCSO for second-degree trafficking in stolen property (2 counts), criminal conspiracy and money laundering.

May 17: Lola Jon Campbell, 46, Nespelem, arrested by LCSO for driving under the influence.

Michael Lee Halverson, 44, Battle Ground, Wash., arrested by LCSO for failure to comply with a court order.

May 18: Chester William Pitner, 47, Elmer City, serving a two-day court commitment for first-degree criminal trespass.

May 20: Joaquin J. Marchand, 38, Elmer City, arrested by LCSO for driving under the influence.

Michael Shawn Williams, 56, Spokane, arrested by LCSO for driving under the influence.

During the past week, five other individuals were held under contract with the Washington State Department of Corrections.
