The Odessa Ministerial Association organizes Vacation Bible School each year after school lets out for the summer. The session lasts an entire week and is open to all children in the community regardless of whether or not the family holds membership in a given church.

Vacation Bible School, put on last week by the local churches that make up the Odessa Ministerial Association, drew youngsters from all over town and the countryside for a full week of activities, crafts, music and lessons on the Bible. Approximately 90 children were involved in the preschool through fifth-grade group.

On Thursday evening, June 21, the children put on a program for the entire community at Reiman Park, with singing and skits, plus snacks and beverages for all. Then on Friday, they returned for their final day of cleanup activities, gathering up of crafts they had made and saying good-bye to each other.

The youngest children attending Vacation Bible School last week in Odessa were of preschool and Kindergarten age.

All children in the community are invited to participate in Vacation Bible School. Families need not belong to a specific church in order to attend. The week-long school session takes place at the beginning of each summer during the first or second week after regular school lets out. Local pastors and community volunteers provide guidance and instruction. Parents and community supporters provided refreshments for use throughout the day, as well as supplies for the various activities.

Each year, the Association rotates its venues for the different age groups among the participating churches. The white fencing that suddenly appeared on the lawn at Foursquare Church, for example, indicated that the church was one of the venues for VBS.

The youngsters looked like they were having a good time participating.
