Masquers Theater holds summer camp

We are excited that our first ever week-long theater camp for children is almost here. Masquers Summer Youth Program starts on Monday, July 23, and will run through Friday, July 27, with a 2 p.m. performance on Saturday, July 28.

Registration forms can be found online at http://www.masquers.com. The program is still accepting children and every child is guaranteed a role. Registrations with check or money order payments should be mailed to Masquers Theater, PO Box 1174, Soap Lake, WA 98851 no later than Wednesday, July 18th to ensure delivery prior to the start of camp. Registrations with credit cards as payment may be scanned and emailed to Masquers.Heather@gmail.com and will be accepted until all program slots have been filled. The registration consists of both the application form and a signed liability form.

Cost for the program is $75 per child. A family discount is available for the second and third child to be registered at $60 each.

During this program, participants will rehearse for five days before putting on a full-length show, Robin Hood and his Merry Men by Richard Gremel. Jen Schwartz will be directing this funny romp back into medieval lore.

Prince John has decreed that the citizens of Nottingham pay weekly taxes or face the penalty of death. His decrees are enforced by the evil Sheriff of Nottingham. The citizens think that all hope is lost until they hear word of a noble hero, Robin Hood of Locksley. Robin Hood, with the help of his merry men (which are mostly girls) rob from the rich, give to the poor and save the fair Maid Marian. This comic retelling of the story includes thumb wars, missed cues and a slow-motion fight.

The Saturday matinee performance starts at 2 p.m., July 28. Tickets will be available at the door. Doors open at 1 p.m., and the theater is suggesting a $5 donation per person. The theater will not be taking advance reservations or selling tickets online for this show.
