Editor’s note: Most items in this section reflect the starting point for response by local police and emergency agencies. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office does not release names of individuals who report possible criminal or suspicious activities to dispatchers or alleged victims for this column.

Monday, Nov. 19: A caller traveling U.S. 2 between Creston and Davenport advised dispatchers that the highway was slick and that his and another vehicle slid while rounding a corner.

A woman suffering “extreme back pain” was transported by Davenport ambulance personnel from her Edwall residence to a Spokane hospital. EMTs from Edwall and Reardan assisted.


Deputies cited an individual for trespassing while hunting on property adjacent to Harker Canyon Road after finding the man’s claim of having permission to drive across it to get to another false.

A Sprague area resident reported a pistol was stolen from a vehicle parked in a garage adjacent to Doerschlag Road East.

A caller reported someone had gone through buildings adjacent to Laney Road near Odessa and had attempted to remove a battery from a tractor inside a shop.


Davenport Elementary School personnel requested law enforcement response after two individuals argued in the principal’s office about a parenting plan involving a student there. A deputy arrived and warned both that they had engaged in disorderly conduct and that they would be arrested if it happened again at the school.

Deputies and mental health personnel responded to a report of a woman having a breakdown, becoming aggressive and in possession of a box knife. They caught up with the woman riding a lawnmower in the vicinity of Creston’s town hall.

Damage to the side of a vehicle parked in the 800 block of Washington Street in Davenport was reported after someone apparently sideswiped it. The driver’s side mirror also had been broken off.

An Odessa patrolman assisted a deputy in dealing with a flat tire on his vehicle along SR 21.

Reardan Police dealt with a juvenile problem in the 200 block of Aspen Street.

Tuesday, Nov. 20: Creston ambulance personnel assisted a Wilbur woman experiencing pain.

Sprague School District conducted an intruder drill.

Deputies assisted their Whitman County counterparts investigating a series of vehicle prowling incidents in Rosalia that may have a connection to Lincoln County.

In what may have been related cases, deputies responded to about 23 prowling incidents in the 100 block of NE Anderson in Creston; and the 0, 100 and 300 blocks of SE Regent Avenue, the 100 block of SW Broadway, the 100 and 200 blocks of SE Brace Street, the 100 and 200 blocks of SE Pope, the 100 block of N. West Street, the 300 and 600 blocks of NW Cole Street, the 10 block of SW May, the 100 block of NE Cliff, the 300 block of SW Lincoln, and the 10 block of NW Raymond, all in Wilbur. Among items missing: sound equipment, wallets, credit cards, cash, CDs, car and postal box keys, a pistol, black leather gloves, prescription sunglasses, binoculars and a knife.

Corrections deputies dealt with a fight between two female inmates in the county jail. One said the other had head-butted her in the nose and called her names

Deputies responded to a report of two family members arguing about use of farmland in the vicinity of Doerschlag and Soden roads near Sprague.

Deputies investigated a report of illegal dumping of “marijuana waste” on Fictenburg Road near a railroad crossing west of Davenport.

Wednesday, Nov. 21: Two juvenile boys were identified as suspects in crimes committed at the Wonder Mini-Mart in Wilbur. While one was vaping inside the store, distracting the clerk, the other allegedly stole a lemonade drink.

Reardan Police responded to a report that someone was trying to steal pallets outside the Highway Café.

Thursday, Nov. 22: Two deputies responded after receiving a report of six individuals outside a residence in the 100 block of Eleventh Street in Davenport arguing about a child.

A caller reported seeing individuals possibly casing property in the 27000 block of Waukon Road.

Deputies responded to the 800 block of Maxwell Street in Davenport after a caller reported someone was banging on the door of a residence and refusing to leave. The matter may involve an argument over money owed on a car deal.

Catching up with it on SR 28 and Tanner Road, deputies stopped a vehicle registered to the Harrington Church of the Nazarene after receiving reports of speeding and bad passing on U.S. 2 between Reardan and Davenport.

Friday, Nov. 23: Sprague firefighters and ambulance personnel responded to a rollover collision on Interstate 90 that involved a truck and trailer carrying three horses, which were hurt. All three had to be captured after getting loose on the highway.

Sprague ambulance personnel also responded to a one-vehicle rollover that occurred on SR 231 in the Edwall area.

Deputies investigated a report from a residence in the 500 block of NW Armstrong in Wilbur that a man had been attacked from behind by an unknown assailant as he entered his unit.

A woman reported the theft of a purse from a yard adjacent to Mondovi Road North near Davenport.

A Reardan man told dispatchers he gave out his credit card number to someone claiming to be from DISH Network, only to find that $190 had been spent before he was able to cancel the card.

A Davenport woman requested assistance with a cell phone company she said is charging her for something she did not order. She also reported harassment and threats being made to her.

Saturday, Nov. 24: A Davenport man reported his car had been stolen while he was inside a casino in Airway Heights.

Three individuals, including a 3-month-old child in a car seat, escaped injury after the vehicle they were traveling rolled over in the vicinity of Miles Creston and Welch Creek roads. Responding emergency personnel reported the stretch of roadway was icy. The occupants were transported to Lincoln Hospital in Davenport just to be safe.

A Wilbur caller reported the door of a residence in the 400 block of SW Lincoln Street was kicked open.

A Davenport woman told dispatchers someone in a vehicle followed her around town and yelled at her in the 200 block of Adams Street.

The latest incident in a family dispute involved a man’s allegation of trespassing against a cousin he wanted to leave property adjacent to North Knack Road south of Davenport.

After seeing a note on Facebook that a woman and her child had been assaulted, a man relayed the information to deputies, who checked things out at a residence in the 300 block of West 4th Street in Sprague.

Sunday, Nov. 25: A Wilbur woman told dispatchers she is afraid of a man who stands outside the door of a residence in the 500 block of NW Armstrong and looks at her without saying anything as she took her garbage out and walked her dog.

A Wilbur woman asked for law enforcement assistance when her 17-year-old son refused to return home after an argument with her.

Two deputies checked out a report of a loud argument between a man and woman living in an apartment in the 700 block of Morgan Street in Davenport.

Responding to the 100 block of North Maple Street, Reardan Police diffused a verbal dispute between a husband and wife. Alcohol was believed to be a factor in the incident.

Jail Bookings

Nov. 19: Christopher Ryan Baber, 34, Cheney, serving a court commitment for reckless driving.

Nov. 22: Thomas Floyd Castillo, 39, Spokane, arrested by LCSO for driving under the influence.

Nov. 23: Daniel Ross Thompson, 45, Reardan, arrested by Reardan Police for driving while license suspended.

TJ Hamilton, 34, Davenport, arrested by Reardan Police on a Grant County warrant for driving under the influence.

From Nov. 19 to 25, five individuals were held in the Lincoln County Jail under contract with the Washington State Department of Corrections and one under contract with Colville Tribal Corrections.
