Helen Marie Winter

Helen Marie Winter passed away peacefully on February 7, 2019, at the Odessa Nursing Home, Odessa, Washington. Helen and her twin sister, Hazel were born October 21, 1926, to Henry and Susan Baumgart. Helen was raised in Lind and graduated from Lind High School. She married Walter Winter on August 26, 1951, and together they had five children. In addition to raising her children on their wheat farm, Helen worked for a time at the Odessa Record and for the Odessa School District in both the kitchen and driving school bus.

Helen was an avid artist and quilter. Helen opened the "Paint Bucket" in Odessa to showcase her paintings and crafts, and loved sharing her talents with her family and friends.


Helen is survived her "twins," Patricia Winter of Lewiston, Idaho, and Dale Winter of Davenport; her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Susan Baumgart; her son, Neal Walter Winter; daughters, Christy Martin and Donna Bren; twin sister, Hazel Kissler; grandson, Matthew Walter Bren; and great-grandson, Dominic Riley Perry.

Helen was a wonderful mother who loved her children fiercely. She was loved deeply and will be greatly missed.


A family graveside service will be held at a future date. Arrangements are being handled by Strate Funeral Home of Davenport.
