OHS Tigers are 1B academic state champions

The Odessa Tigers boys basketball team, with a combined grade point average of 3.750, has won the 1B academic state championship. Most of these extremely busy young men participate in multiple sports, as well as activities such as Future Business Leaders of America, FFA, Knowledge Bowl, among others. They also maintain good grades in their regular classes.

According to the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) rules, "Any team/group with an average GPA (based on a 4.0 scale) of 3.0 or higher qualifies for a state award. A team with an average GPA of 3.00 - 3.49 qualifies for the Distinguished Team Award, while a team with an average GPA of 3.50-4.00 qualifies for the Outstanding Team Award. The team/group with the highest average GPA for their activities and classification level is recognized as the Academic State Champion."
