Students learn about free enterprise

Odessa's 8th-grade class was the target for this year's FBLA American Enterprise Project. The students spent several weeks learning about the free enterprise system, how the 'American Dream' inspires many to start businesses within the free enterprise system and how many of those businesses are created based on cultural or family heritage. Students studied some very famous businesses founded on this premise, including Chobani yogurt, Panda Express and Levi Strauss.

The 8th-grade students took their new knowledge and created an interactive fair where all students in grades 4 through 12 were invited to tour eight different businesses that realized the 'American Dream' using their unique backgrounds.

Puzzles, games, and cheese tasting were just a few of the many activities to help all students develop a better understanding of this fascinating trend in American business.
