Odessa defeats Curlew and Republic

Curlew

On Tuesday, April 30, the Tigers defeated Curlew in both conference games played there. Odessa won the first game by a score of 19-0.

Jett Nelson got three hits, including a double, and picked up two RBIs. Eric Johnston and Tim DeWulf each got two hits that brought in three RBIs each. DeWulf hit a home run and Johnston’s hits were both doubles. Camden Weber got two hits, one of them a double, for two RBIs. Hayden Miller hit two doubles for one RBI. Marcus King had two hits, a double and a triple. Keith Strebeck had two hits, one of them a triple. Landen Brooks had one hit that gave him two RBIs. The same was true for Jakob Starkel, who hit a double. Theron Schlomer had one hit and one RBI.

For the Tigers, Jett Nelson pitched all four innings played. He faced 13 batters, threw 42 pitches, allowed two hits, struck out six and walked one.

Game two of the double header also saw the Tigers win by a substantial margin, 20-2.

Camden Weber had another great day at bat, getting five hits in his five at bats, including two doubles and and getting six RBIs. Marcus King had three hits, including a triple, for another six RBIs. Jett Nelson also had three hits and picked up three RBIs. Theron Schlomer had two hits and picking up two RBIs. Jakob Starkel and Keith Strebeck each got one hit and one RBI. Starkel’s hit was a triple. There was one hit apiece for Nathan Carstensen, Drew Hardung, Eric Johnston and Tim DeWulf (a double).

Weber pitched four innings, facing 17 batters, giving up two runs on two hits, striking out 7 and walking 2. Bradly Singer pitched one inning, facing four batters, giving up one hit and striking out one batter.

Republic

On Friday, May 3, it was the battle of the big cats, as the Odessa Tigers faced the Republic Tigers in Republic.

Johnston’s two hits brought in three RBIs. Nelson’s two hits resulted in two RBIs. Weber also got two hits, both doubles, and Carstensen was responsible for two RBIs. Hardung and DeWulf each had one hit and one RBI. DeWulf’s hit was a double.

Schlomer pitched four innings, facing 13 batters, striking out 7 and walking one. Johnston pitched one inning in which he faced four batters, striking out two while giving up no walks.

Game 2 of this double-header had a similar outcome, with Odessa coming out on top by a score of 16-5.

Nelson had four hits, including a double, for two runs and three RBIs, while Schlomer hit three doubles scoring two runs and picking up four RBIs. King had a double and a triple, scoring two and picking up four RBIs. Strebeck’s single scored a run for one RBI. Singer was credited with one hit and two runs, while Starkel and DeWulf each had one run for one hit.

DeWulf pitched three innings, facing 11 batters, striking out eight and walking one. He gave up no hits or runs. Singer pitched two innings, faced 13 batters, giving up five runs on three hits, while striking out three and walking two.
