Kevin Heimbigner was inducted into the Washington State Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in Yakima, Wash. June 8. Heimbigner coached baseball, basketball and football at Toutle Lake, Odessa, Naselle and Ilwaco High Schools over a 33-year span. He taught business education and coached varsity baseball, basketball and football at Odessa High School from 1977-1979.

His baseball teams won 501 games and lost 166 and appeared in 18 WIAA State Tournaments. Heimbigner’s Toutle Lake teams were state champions in 1977 and 1978 and his Naselle team was second in 1992. Heimbigner was selected Washington State Coach of the Year in 1977 at Toutle, 1978 at Odessa and in 1992 at Naselle.

Heimbigner began coaching in 1973 and also coached American Legion baseball, adult softball and Little League. Overall his teams won 1,206 games and lost 386, and he was league coach of the year 26 times.


His daughter, Bethany DeWitt, introduced him at the induction banquet. Heimbigner was born and raised in Ritzville and is now retired. He and his wife of 45 years, Debbie, live in Long Beach, Wash.
