Consumer fireworks sales and discharge period set

Olympia – According to State Fire Marshal Charles P. LeBlanc, the sale and discharge period for consumer fireworks begins June 28, 2019. A state license is required along with a local permit to operate a fireworks stand in Washington. The Washington State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFMO) issued 698 retail fireworks stand licenses in 2019; this number is close to the previous year’s total of 700.

Unless a city or county has enacted an ordinance to limit or prohibit the sale, purchase, possession or use of consumer fireworks, the following chart details the dates and times consumer fireworks may be sold or discharged:

Remember that household pets and persons suffering post-traumatic stress disorder can be adversely affected by loud noises and flashes of light. Be considerate of your neighbors and limit fireworks to open areas such as the athletic fields.
