Odessa vs. Selkirk

The District 7 championship game was held at Deer Park High School on Feb. 22, and the undefeated Odessa Tiger boys took the #1 spot, handing the Selkirk Rangers a 78 to 34 loss.

The game's first quarter was something of a surprise to the team. Whereas, their usual game plan all season has called for building up a commanding lead right from the start, the Rangers put up a strong defense and even led the Tigers by two points.

Ryan Moffet's shots weren't falling either in the first quarter, and he was so closely guarded that most of his shots were hurried. As the second quarter got under way, however, other team members began taking more shots and making them, freeing Moffet from some of the pressure.

Despite the slow start, Moffet ended up with 33 points, while Camden Weber had 11, Marcus King 10 and Jett Nelson 9. Most of the Tiger players got onto the scoreboard.

The Tigers had 32 rebounds to Selkirk's 21. Weber led Odessa with seven rebounds, and Moffet led in assists, also with seven.

The Tigers' next regional playoff game is Saturday, Feb. 29, against Oakesdale and will be played at West Valley High School in Spokane beginning at noon.
