SANTA ARRIVES!!!

It was a day for the kids in downtown Davenport last Saturday when Santa Claus arrived, riding his snow-mobile pulled trailer driven by local snow mobile dealer Gene Stuckle. A small crowd of anxious youngsters were on hand to meet the jolly old fellow and after greeting them, Santa walked to the Western Auto store where he heard their request for Christmas gifts. Santa arrived under the sponsorship of the Davenport Chamber of Commerce and Civic League.

CARE ‘N’ SHARE THANKFUL FOR GIFTS

A letter to the Editor:

How wonderful to live in a caring and sharing community. Appreciation and gratitude to the many people who have given of their time, talents and financial support for Care N Share.

The board and volunteers want to thank the Lions Club for adding on to the building, thus giving us room for furniture and storage. A special thank you to Bob Kirkwood and Herman Reinbold who put in many extra hours and to Fred Kays who helped with the storage room and the clean up. This extra room is a great help. Many thanks to Bob McNeilly for the wiring job.

Appreciation and gratitude to the Cub and /boy Scouts for the food drive. That helped our staples and gave us a wider selection of food. A thank you to the Lutheran Brotherhood who also added to our food supply. We thank Ruth Oehlwein and Nicki Reinbold for shopping for us.

Hometown Christmas also benefits Care N Share and appreciation and gratitude to everyone that help with that.

This is a yearly project and a lot of work. Many individuals have donated clothing , money and food items, which is much appreciated. Thanks to all who helped us help others.

Sincerely;

Lorene Nicholls
