Youth escapes Child Protective Services, then found

TELFORD--The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office was notified that a 16-year-old male escaped at the Telford Rest Area as he was being transported to Spokane from Omak by a Child Protective Service Jan. 10. The juvenile had mental health issues, was high on methamphetamine, and had a warrant for his arrest. He previously fled a Spokane County foster home and was facing several pending charges in Spokane.

The Omak CPS and Spokane CPS were meeting at the rest area at a half way point when he escaped.

Sheriff Deputies responded to the area to look for the subject, who was reported to have removed clothing and run north through fields, heading into large open country. Because of the escape and concern for his safety, Creston and Lincoln fire departments, Park Rangers and Sheriff Deputies searched the area.

Creston Fire and Lincoln Fire personnel assisted by way of side by sides, air support and ground crews.

The juvenile was located after a search of the area with a lot of resources. He is safe and on his way to help.
