Susan Gerene Reinbold

Susan Gerene Reinbold (71) of Davenport, Wash., passed away on Thur., Jan. 28, 2021, of ovarian cancer. She was born on July 16, 1949, in Spokane, Wash., to Edna and Eugene Jackson.

Susan graduated from Davenport High School in 1967 and completed some schooling at Washington State University. On July 11, 1970, she married her high school sweetheart, Doug Reinbold. In 2020 they celebrated being married for 50 years. They were together a total of 56 years. They resided at their farm in Egypt, Wash.

Susan worked in Davenport her entire life. She worked for her mother, Edna, at Edna's Drive-In while in high school. Susan worked for a short time at a dental office, 17 years at Davenport Clinic as an assistant to Dr. Paul McLain as well as doing some transcription and bookkeeping, and 30 years at Davenport/ Rainier Seeds as a bookkeeper as well as the office manager for 20 of those years. She retired in 2016. Susan enjoyed all her jobs and the people she encountered during her employment. Susan took great pride in doing the job right and thoroughly. Many people comment on her sincere kindness and promptness taking care of them. Her family job that kept her quite busy was managing the books for the farm. Some of her past times were gardening, teaching snow skiing at 49 Degrees North, quilting, walking with friends, playing card games, canning, and baking. She was well-known for her comfort foods made from scratch. Christmas was her favorite holiday. She loved making and giving gifts to her friends and family.


Susan was preceded in death by both her parents, Edna and Gene Jackson. She is survived by one brother, Richard (Marcia) Jackson of Fair Oaks, Calif, and one sister Bobbi (Brian) Ziemer of Cheney, Wash.


She is also survived by her husband Doug Reinbold of Davenport, Wash; two daughters Erin (Tim) Utley of Davenport, Wash, and Kaarin (Derek) Appel of Medical Lake, Wash. Her four grandchildren, who meant the world to her, are Riley and Ryan Utley; Tessa and Allison Appel. She is also survived by four nieces and a nephew.

Due to COVID, there will not be a service for Susan at this time. Per her request, the family is planning a get together after it is safe to do so.
