Easter egg hunt draws small, but lively, crowd

ODESSA – The annual Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt took place last Saturday morning after last year's interruption due to Covid. Although the crowd was smaller than usual, the kids appeared to have the usual great time searching for the candy-filled eggs that club members had hidden all over the city park area.

As the children waited semi-patiently for the air-horn to sound promptly at 10 a.m., family members visited and took pictures, just happy to be having a live event in their own community.

Winners of the Easter baskets awarded to those who found the golden egg in each age group were Witten Dirks in the 0-3 year-old group, the son of Adam and Sara Dirks; Christopher Haase in the 4-6-year-old group, the son of Mark Haase and Alexa Boss and Aubrey Iverson in the 7-9-year-old group, the daughter of Brenik and Kamie Iverson.

The weather was cool but not cold. Some of the youngest kids on the hunt were much more interested in getting onto the playground equipment than looking for eggs, but their parents were quick to redirect them. In less than half an hour, all of the searching was done, baskets awarded and pictures taken. Short and sweet was Odessa's first in-person event of the new year.
