Walking for Water Mission returns in Reardan

REARDAN – The Eighth Annual Walk for Water Mission International, which begins and ends at Reardan City Park, returns Sunday April 25 from 11:30-2:30.

A family picnic will follow.

Two and four-mile routes are planned to simulate carrying water the average distance that women & children in developing countries walk to collect water each day. That water that is often unsafe for human consumption.

The walk is meant to raise awareness of the global water crisis and raise funds for Water Mission International (WMI).

WMI is a Christian engineering non-profit organization from North Carolina that has come up with sustainable, deployable, water filtration & sanitation solutions in developing nations and areas of natural disasters (most recently deployed teams to Texas to help with the flooding last month). They have a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator.

“We hope to raise awareness and funds for this wonderful organization, who works to meet water needs, and build relationships with the people in areas they serve,” outreach coordinator Virginia Henderson said.
