July 4 downtown do draws crowd

ODESSA – The July 4 car, truck and bike show held in downtown Odessa drew 12 car entries, six truck entries and six motorcycle entries to town. Ed Riederich of Ritzville entered a vehicle he has dubbed Atilla Da Hun Da. Roger and Melissa Simmons of Soap Lake brought their Laguna-type S-3. Roger Egbert of Davenport entered a 1956 Chevrolet. Charles Green of Moses Lake brought a 2009 Dodge SRT8 called Midnight Wolf. Stan Vangen, also of Moses Lake, entered a Chevrolet Corvette. Robin Peterson of Soap Lake brought a 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass. Clay and Karen Crook, also of Soap Lake, entered a 1961 Geo. Scott Jellison entered a 1948 Ford. John A. Shull entered a 1972 Nova. Darrell Thomas entered a 1928 Ford. Norman Ott of Odessa entered a 1964 Ford and Jesse Huntwork of Moses Lake entered a 1956 Ford.


First place in the cars category went to Norman Ott's 1964 Ford, second place to Darrell Thomas' 1928 Ford, third place to Charles Green's 2009 Dodge, and the People's Choice award went to Robin Peterson's 1971 Olds.

Entering trucks in the event were Steve Poplin of Soap Lake with a 1955 Chevy, Forrest Schandel of Odessa with a Dodge Ram, Steven Earl of Medical Lake with a 1940 Chevy, Patrick Gies of Odessa with a GMC 150, Steve Jellison of Malaga with a Ford and Bob Truppaur of Grand Coulee with a Ford.


First place went to the GMC 150 of Odessa's Patrick Gies, second place to the Ford truck of Steve Jellison, third place to the Ford truck of Bob Truppaur, and the People's Choice award went to Steve Poplin's Chevy.

In the bikes category, John Hardt of Odessa entered his Harley-Davidson Street Glide, Todd Hamilton of Harrington entered his 2019 Kawasaki, Brad Valvertine of Naches entered a 1980 Honda Goldwing, Jeffrey Johnson of Odessa entered a 2004 Mean Str. Ray Jones of Ritzville and John Schulte of Odessa also entered but did not write down their bike's model name.

First place went to John Hardt, second to Todd Hamilton, third to Jeff Johnson, and the People's Choice award went to John Schulte.

Besides the car show, there was also karaoke inside Rolling Thunder Pizza, as well as performances by various singers and musicians. Downtown was hopping for much of the day.
