Jacobsen wins regionals

Davenport boys qualify for state

COLFAX-Sophomore Jaeger Jacobsen has been Davenport's best cross-country runner all season, and Saturday, he proved he's one of the best B runners this side of the Cascades with a first-place finish at the District 7/9 B Regional Championships.

Jacobsen's finish, along with a top-10 finish by senior Jake Coffman, helped the Gorilla boys qualify for state with a third-place team finish. The top four teams qualified for state, and the Gorillas were joined by St. George's, Chewelah and Asotin as the teams from the region to head to state.

Garfield-Palouse, St. George's, Asotin and Republic qualified from the girls side. The top 28 runners from the boys side qualified, while the top 21 from the girls side qualified individually.

The state meet is Saturday, Nov. 6 at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.
