Robert served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1951- 1953. He was very proud to be a veteran. He was a life member of the VFW Post #7395 and the Honor Guard. He was also a member of the American Legion, the Canniwai Grange #837 and Ducks Unlimited.

Robert was a fan of many sports. He followed his nieces and nephews and then his great-nieces and nephews throughout their high school and college sports. He was always so very proud of all of them.

He farmed north of Odessa on the family farm for many years. He then decided to move to town and worked at Odessa Lumber. He also worked at Ramm Hardware for many years, until his retirement. He enjoyed the interaction with customers and enjoyed his job.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Gus and Emma Zimbelman, his siblings, Florence Schlimmer, Viola Syring, Rhea Strate, Ione Zeiler, Melvin Zimbelman, Leo Zimbelman, Donald Zimbelman, and Herbert Zimbelman, as well as a niece, several nephews and several great nephews. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Uncle Bobby was one of the good ones. He was proud to be an Uncle to all of us and took that job very seriously. He was always very interested in what and how we were all doing. He was very loved by us all and will be missed. Sandy Libsack and Barbara Schlimmer (nieces) were Uncle Bobby’s “angels on earth” and they took very good care of him which was appreciated by the rest of us.
