ODESSA – The Tigers baseball team went 1-1 in doubleheaders against both Wilbur-Creston and ACH last week.

Game 1 against the Wildcats in Wilbur on April 19 was a 5-3 victory for the Tigers. Collin Martin was the starting pitcher and went six innings, giving up three runs on three hits and striking out 12. Nathan Carstensen was three for four at the plate, hitting two singles and a double. He also relieved Martin on the mound to close out the final inning.

Game 2 had the opposite outcome as the Wildcats scored eight runs to Odessa's five. The Wildcats scored big in the first inning to take a 7-2 lead. Carstensen pitched the entire three innings and gave up five hits. He did not get much help from the defense as the Tigers committed five errors. Only three of WC's eight runs were earned runs.

Game 1 against ACH last Saturday at home was a total slaughter of the Tigers by the Warriors. The Odessa bats were shut down by the blazing fastball of Co. Correia on the mound for the Warriors. It was also the case, however, that eight of Odessa's players came to the game straight from the state FBLA conference in Spokane, where they had competed very successfully.

Hayden Miller was the starting pitcher for the Tigers, giving up 23 runs on 12 hits in one and two-thirds innings. Freshman Bo Walter finished out the game in relief.

In Game 2, the Tigers turned the tables on the Warriors and held on for the win. Tiger bats finally came alive after Miller slammed a home run in the first inning and added a double in the second. Martin also hit a double, while Zach Claassen, Holden Iverson and Bo Walter all hit singles to bring in some of those seven runs.
