Wilson named Harrington treasurer

HARRINGTON- The city has a new treasurer. Sage Wilson was sworn in by city clerk Jere Lee after a unanimous motion by city council Wednesday, June 22.
The board unanimously voted for approval until the next election cycle.
Prior to Wilson’s swearing-in, councilmember Joe Armand read the letter of resignation of now-former city treasurer Michael Cronrath.
Mayor Jess Silhan thanked Cronrath for his service and his continued help with the transition.
Critical Area Ordinance No. 507 was updated and approved by the board.
Updates to the library board ordinance were discussed by councilmember Stephen Hardy.
Hardy discussed the current state of the library board and the validity of current members.
He discussed clarifying term lengths and the roles of the library board.
Armand said the bulk of the clarification will be for the Revised Code of Washington.
He reiterated the old RCW has not been updated and needed more clarification in term lengths and roles.
The new ordinance was voted unanimously 5-0 on by the board for approval.
Silhan gave an update on the Adams Street Construction.
He said crews tested the street with 13,000 gallons of water to make sure the water diversion worked.
Silhan said the city’s backhoe tire needed replacing and was fixed.
Armand announced the individual who runs the city website will be leaving the role.
He also discussed the possibility of making their own website. No decisions were made by the board.
Armand said the PDA meetings have changed but will be updated with more information in the future.
