Fireless Fourth flatters firemen

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received no calls of fires related to firework mishaps on July 4, chief civil deputy Denise Liebing said. Neither did crews in Fire Districts covering Davenport, Odessa, Harrington, Reardan, Edwall and the Fourth of July.

“The rain probably helped for sure,” District No. 4 chief Jim Adams said.

Law enforcement was still busy over the weekend, making 69 traffic stops on July 2 and arresting two people for driving under the influence. Most of the traffic was found near the Spokane arm of Lake Roosevelt at Fort Spokane, where folks were traveling across the river from Two Rivers Resort following the Spokane Tribe’s fireworks display.
