Freedom on the rivers

A warm, but not scorching, sunny day greeted the many prospective swimmers and sunbathers on the west end of Fort Spokane across from the festivities at Two Rivers Casino Saturday, July 2. Children enjoyed hopping off the dock into the Spokane arm of Lake Roosevelt, while parents and young adults took the opportunity for Vitamin D. The parking lots were packed, and most families stuck around for the spectacular fireworks show put on by the Spokane Tribe of Indians at the confluence of the Columbia and Spokane Rivers. Some got too comfortable, as law enforcement was called on a group of people loitering on the Highway 25 bridge crossing the Spokane River.
