Creekside Pharmacy owners Ryan and Lanae Wiater plan to lease the pharmacy space in the downtown Davenport strip to potential business tenants. The pharmacy closed in late February.

DAVENPORT - While Creekside Pharmacy's doors have been closed for multiple months, the building space at 639 Morgan Street remains under the same ownership. Ryan and Lanae Wiater, who live between Davenport and Reardan and opened Creekside in 2019, plan to retain ownership of the building space and lease it to prospective business tenants.

"Eventually it will be leased," Lanae Wiater said. "We are going back and forth with a business. If that doesn't work out, we'll be opening it for new tenants."

Wiater declined to disclose the type of business under consideration because negotiations are still ongoing.

The pharmacy closed in early March for multiple reasons, Wiater said.

"The insurance industry is a trainwreck, so we spent most of my time trying to be paid properly by insurance companies," she said. "(And) after COVID, it became really difficult to find pharmacist help. A lot of people went part-time or retired early, or they can't work outside of their companies (due to regulations). It was not working out over and over again, so we decided to value our time a little more."

Wiater said she plans to eventually continue pharmacist work on a freelance basis, but will take a short break for the time being.
