WASHINGTON, D.C. – Eastern Washington farmers and ranchers may see some relief from a new wetlands rule that was set to be entered in the National Register on Wednesday, July 29.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the rule addresses inconsistencies in how wetlands were determined after Nov. 28, 1990. It also prevents government officials from reinterpreting wetlands determinations without the request of the landowner.
The rule also requires notification of wetland determinations and provides for appeals, USDA officials said
