ODESSA - A fire hydrant struck by a vehicle nearly 10 months ago remains out of service.
The hydrant was hit Oct. 6, 2025.
Damage was not fully reported to the Fire Department at the time, and the unit has been unusable since.
Fire Chief Brian Schorzman told the City Council during a Monday, Aug. 10, meeting that the older, smaller hydrant needs to be replaced; its location forces longer hose lays for structure fires in the surrounding area.
Police said they cannot self-report the collision to the Washington State Patrol because too much time has elapsed.
