Town gears up for celebration of heritage

ODESSA - The first signs of Deutschesfest are going up in paint, not tents.
Linda Goodman, 58, of Odessa is painting storefront windows around town ahead of the 55th Deutschesfest, Sept. 17-20. She has the grocery store, NAPA and Odessa Trading Co. done or underway and may add the drugstore. She expects about five windows this year.
Steve Braun, 59, of Odessa Trading Co. said the shop does it so people keep coming back for the Fest.
"We've had a lot of people say that they like it," Braun said.
