Gorillas open with 2-miler

COLBERT — Davenport’s varsity boys were sixth at the Josh Wright Memorial 2-mile jamboree on Tuesday at Northwest Christian.

Coach Brian Telford said it was the Gorillas’ first 2-miler of the year.

“So we had no expectations in this race,” Telford said. “Just a fun run.”

Jackson Henry led Davenport in 13 minutes, 7 seconds for 14th. Everett Prewitt was 25th in 14:13, Jackson Guhlke 30th in 14:59, Tecumseh Wilt 37th in 16:54 and Alex Wesselius 39th in 17:06.
