Avista crew members work feverishly to repair a gas leak and evacuate gas from the surrounding soil in the alley that runs parallel to east Third Avenue.
During a routine inspection being performed by Avista representatives in Odessa this week, a major gas leak was detected in the alley just north of east Third Avenue. Several Avista trucks and vans, as well as a crew of six or seven were still at work at the site Tuesday afternoon. The leak had been discovered sometime Monday and had already been repaired by that afternoon, according to the Avista gas division manager Randy Chandler.
