God's Precious Half Acre
On a knoll west of town, the angels stand guard
As a few rest in peace, in a lonely graveyard
Two miles west of Odessa, and south a half mile
Lies this desolate cemetary, by itself - in exile
Cordoned off by a fence, wire darkened with rust
Along an old gravel road, whirlwinds kick up the dust
Abandoned, deserted, like a young orphan child
Unwanted, neglected - vegetation grows wild
But - this small humble plot, with natural disguise
Has a very rare beauty - for those who have eyes
Covered with carpet, you can't buy in a store
Smothered with colors - of wild flowers ga...
