Vacation Bible School still needs helpers for June 20-24

Odessa Ministerial Association volunteers are busy getting ready for Vacation Bible School, which opens Monday, June 20, at Christ Lutheran Church.

This year’s theme is “Hometown Nazareth, where Jesus was a kid.”

Organizers report that helpers are still needed, especially in the Jr. High. They are also requesting donations of healthy snacks and loans of artificial plants, wicker baskets and Indian blankets to decorate with. A food bank service project will need donations of shoe boxes, cake mixes, frosting, birthday candles, balloons, birthday wrapping paper, Craft projects could use egg cartons, pant/coat hangers (the kind with the cardboard tube), aluminum pie plates and buttons. Any loans or donations should be delivered to Christ Lutheran Church.

Each day of VBS will begin with a teacher and helper devotional, followed by a quick meeting to go over class lists and plans, so teachers and helpers are requested to be at the church by 8:30 a.m. if at all possible.

Children attending will receive a T-shirt at no charge. Adult shirts are available for $6. Adults who want a shirt should contact April Strebeck and let her know the size: astrebeck@centurytel.net or call at 982-2106.
