Airport runway extension project mired in bureaucracy

The runway expansion project at Odessa’s airport continues to be a challenge, with “two steps forward and three back,” according to Odessa Mayor Doug Plinski. The FAA representative assigned to the project has requested another environmental assessment regarding the building of roads. This request forces the town to return to the planning stage at a point where the town was ready to begin the implementation phase.
