Titan netters head to State tournament play in Yakima

In district tournament play at ACH High School in Coulee City Thursday, November 3, Odessa-Harrington defeated Wellpinit in three, 25-17, 25-17 and 25-14. The Titans then defeated Cusick, again in three, with approximate scores of 25-23, 25-17 and 25-11 (official scores were unavaible).

In their third match of the day, the Titans fell to Almira/Coulee-Hartline 3-1 by scores of 25-21, 25-23, 17-25 and 25-23.

Serving leaders were Lexie Hirst (22 and 1) for 96% and three aces. Koralynne Kuch served 4 aces and Chelsea Fisher 5 aces. Charli Moffet served 40-2 for 95% and Melani Fehrer 52-1 for 98%.

Moffet set up 75 kill assists. Fisher had 48 kills, Kendall Todd 26 and Jordyn Tanke 11. Fisher added 9 blocks and Todd 9 more.

Tanke had a total of 50 digs, followed by Hirst with 21, Kira Powell and Kuch with 18 each, and Amanda Hardt and Moffet with 12 apiece.

On serve receive, Tanke led with 96% (52-3). Hirst had 85% (11-2), Kuch 80% (12-3) and Hardt 80% (4-1).

Saturday, November 5, at Northwest Christian High School in Colbert, the Titans defeated Selkirk 23-25, 25-9, 25-14 and 25-9, then rolled over Columbia Hunters 25-13, 25-14 and 25-15.

In the two matches, Hirst served up 42-0 with 11 aces, Moffet 32-0 with 7 aces, Fehrer 36-0 with 4 aces, Kuch 16-0 with 2 aces and Kira Powell added another 7 aces.

Fisher contributed 36 kills, followed by Todd with 26 and Hirst with 6. Moffet had 65 kill assists.

Fisher also had 6 blocks, and Todd 2. Tanke had 33 digs, Hirst 22, Moffet 11 and Powell and Kuch added 9 each.

On serve receive, three Titans had 100%, Tanke 18-0, Hardt 4-0 and Hirst 3-0. Kuch was at 94% with 15-1.

Coach Scherr said, “The girls had a fantastic district tournament. We leave for State at Yakima after school Thursday. Friday we play Christian Faith which is the number-one seed from Federal Way.”
