Ballo only student on Whitworth task force

Erin Ballo has been appointed to a special task force for Whitworth University. Currently a junior at Whitworth, she is the only student named to the panel.

Erin is the daughter of Susan Praetorius Ballo and Dave Ballo of Kennewick and a graduate of Kamiakin High School. She is the granddaughter of Louella and the late Robert Praetorius of Odessa and the niece of Lee and Debbie Praetorius of Odessa.

Beck Taylor, the President of Whitworth University, has said, “Although Whitworth’s current communications systems have served us well to this point, I acknowledge that the institution has the potential and the capacity to change and improve. A Task Force on Internal Communications has been convened to gather information and ideas, and to develop recommendations that will lead to a more effective internal communications strategy.”

The task force will seek input from the entire campus community. Its duties will be to:

n assess the current nature of internal communications, seeking input from the campus community;

n identify campus needs for internal communications and

n make recommendations to improve internal communications, including utilization of current communications systems, as well as possible new systems.

“Timely and effective internal communications facilitate a richer understanding of the vision, mission and values, and provide important and timely information regarding on-campus events and opportunities, as well as important policy information. By maintaining effective internal communications, we inherently support relationships that build and sustain a unified community, Taylor said.

He has asked the task force to deliver its preliminary findings and possible recommendations to the president’s cabinet by March 8.
