Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!
A number of readers have requested information about the upgrade in progress at the Odessa community center kitchen. The drawing below illustrates the final plan for a commercial kitchen which will expand the existing 20’ x 46’ space to 20’ x 66’.
A project of the Odessa Chamber of Commerce, spearheaded by Deutschesfest food chair Lindsy Starkel, the upgrade will result in a large, commercial-grade kitchen which can be rented by community groups for Fest food preparation, used for weddings or other special events, or rented by small businesses specializing in food products.
As the community center is a popular venue for many events, it has been a challenge to schedule work on the kitchen around those events. Much of the work, including removing the wall between the existing kitchen and the addition, as well as moving and installing components, will take place between Christmas Fest, the first Wednesday in December, and The Odessa Healthcare Foundation Wine Tasting and Auction, held the first Friday in May.
