Math skills of kids/parents aim of Family Math Night

A Family Math Night will be held November 15, 2012, at 6:30 p.m. at the Odessa School, sponsored by the Title 1-A program and with the assistance of the members of the Odessa High School Honor Society.

Children in grades K-4 will meet in the cafeteria to practice math skills through games and exploration activities. Middle-school students in grades 5-8 will learn, along with their families, how to use technology to enhance math skills through free and inexpensive tutoring websites. They will also learn about a website that is connected to the middle school math program used by the school and exciting games which can be played on smart phones, notebooks and computers.

Students in K-4 should be accompanied by parents. Parents are also encouraged to attend the technology portion, as it will give them skills and suggestions for helping their own children.

The evening focuses on making math fun and easier. There will be some prizes and treats.
