INCIDENT LOG

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office does not release names of individuals who report possible criminal or suspicious activities to dispatchers or alleged victims for this column.

Dec. 3: Sprague firefighters extinguished a vehicle on fire on I-90.

A caller told dispatchers he was missing a money order as a result of vehicle prowling in the 1000 block of Adams Street in Davenport.

Deputies investigated a theft incident in the Davenport area involving credit card fraud.

Deputies checked out a possible animal abuse incident in the 10000 block of McGee Road East.

No one was hurt in a truck rollover collision on SR 2 near Davenport.

Two guys on horseback were part of a team on Fitness Lane west of Eighth Street trying to collar a cow that got loose from Stockland Livestock Auction in Davenport.

Prescription medication was taken from a residence in the 200 block of Seventh Street in Davenport.

Deputies assisted Davenport Family Foods personnel with a highly intoxicated man who had become verbally aggressive with them.

Personnel at a West First Avenue coffee stand told Odessa Police that an elderly man who had recently moved there had ordered coffee "made a certain way" and then refuses to pay for it.

Dec. 4: A caller told dispatchers that a bridge wide enough to drive vehicles and implements was built over Spring Creek without the proper permits. The matter was referred to the county Public Works Department.

Deputies were on hand during a marriage dissolution hearing in the Superior Court after learning that threats had been made against one of the parties involved.

A collision involving a fawn was reported on SR 25 about 17 miles north of Davenport.

A Reardan woman said she was pushed to the ground by a man who also allegedly unplugged the phone during a domestic violence incident in the 100 block of East Railroad Avenue. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor.

Davenport firefighters checked out a strange odor, possibly electrical, inside a residence in the 900 block of Fifteenth Street.

Wilbur Police determined that a "suspicious" man standing by mailboxes at Bell RV Park was a resident there who was at that spot for a Wi-Fi connection.

Wilbur Police investigated a possible trespassing incident at the Hillcrest Apartments.

Odessa Police responded to a report from a resident of West 6th Avenue that his dog had been poisoned to death.

Dec. 5: Davenport ambulance personnel assisted a 78-year-old woman who fell and may have injured her hip at a residence in the 30000 block of Whitney Road East.

A power outage was reported in Reardan.

A deputy secured a border collie suspected of chasing cattle in a pasture near Davenport.

A man made "bizarre" claims that the sheriff's office and the Vatican had "collaborated to kill his wife" during a visit to the Washington State Department of Licensing's office inside the Davenport Memorial Hall.

Deputies investigated a narcotics incident originating from the 20000 block of Bald Ridge Road North.

Deputies assisted a 44-year-old man who made threats against his own life before heading into the woods between Moore and Fisher roads north of Reardan.

Deputies investigated suspicious activity at Cottonwood Springs Apartments in Davenport, including reports of young people coming and going at "odd hours," possible drug activity and "doors and windows being shaken."

A woman described a person in dark clothing lurking around the 500 block of South Second in Harrington, prompting dogs to bark.

Responding to a report of a possible fight outside the Alibi Tavern, Wilbur Police determined that intoxicated men were engaged in "mutual combat fighting" and wrestling each other, leaving one with a cut lip. A sheriff's deputy initially summoned to help was advised he wasn't needed after all.

A caller reported damage to a door and door frame at a residence in the 30000 block of Cottonwood Creek Road during a domestic dispute. She said she pushed a man away from her after he spit on her. A second contact was made the following day, bringing deputies out to make an arrest.

Wilbur Police investigated a local woman's claim that withdrawals in three separate states (Washington, Oregon and California) had been made from her bank account.

Dec. 6: After a caller's report of a helicopter flying low near SR 21 and Trejbal Back Road chasing deer on state land, deputies determined its occupants were state Department of Fish and Game employees.

A Reardan area resident reported his farm shop on Farwell Road East had been burglarized. Firearms and ammunition were stolen from a gun cabinet inside.

Two toy Airsoft weapons were removed from the residence of a juvenile who had been instructed by the court not to possess "weapons of any kind" as a condition of probation.

An ambulance was sent to the county jail after a man was arrested on new charges following an appearance in District Court and had to be carried by three deputies into the jail when he refused to walk there. When he "stopped responding" during a body search, he was transported to Lincoln Hospital, but refused any services there. He was medically cleared to be booked for intimidating a public servant. He is the suspect involved in the Dec. 5 incident involving "bizarre statements" made to state Department of Licensing personnel.

For a second time in recent weeks, a stop sign was reported stolen from Moos and Waukon roads.

Dec. 7: Continuously barking dogs in the 100 block of Eleventh Street in Davenport prompted a call to dispatchers.

An Edwall woman asked for assistance in locating a juvenile daughter who may have been dropped off by a traveling companion in Butte or Deer Lodge, Mont.

A deputy gave a courtesy ride to a woman who feared she might be assaulted by an ex-husband after leaving a District Court hearing.

Deputies and Wilbur Police handled an animal neglect matter originating in the 30000 block of Sky Vista Lane North in the Creston area. After being taken to a groomer in Wilbur, a dog was sent to a veterinary clinic in Spokane when the groomer noticed severely matted fur along with urine and feces and possible internal parasites. There also were indications that the dog had been kept in a kennel for long periods of time. The groomer told officers it was the "worst case of animal neglect or abuse (she) had ever seen" in more than 36 years of being in the business.

Wilbur Police investigated a sexual offense incident.

Dec. 8: A caller reported hearing a loud bang in the 700 block of Thirteenth Street in Davenport.

A man told dispatchers someone had left him "mean notes" and accused him of "bad-mouthing" the individual around town.

With Lincoln Hospital the destination, a deputy followed a vehicle driven on SR 2 near Davenport by a man suffering septus problems (blood poisoning).

A power outage caused by a vehicle colliding into a pole on old Sunset Highway behind the weigh scales west of Reardan shut down a repeater station on Grays Butte and set off an alarm at US Bank's Reardan branch. A deputy responding to the collision scene advised that the driver had made a statement that he was attempting to kill himself, explaining his wife was leaving him. Mental Health personnel were sent to Lincoln Hospital, where the man was taken for examination.

A residence on Mill Canyon Road was consumed by a fire of unknown cause, leaving a family of four, including young children, homeless. The family was in Spokane at the time, but their three dogs were lost to the flames.

A caller told dispatchers that two vehicles continually speed on Waukon Road and spin tires at a stop sign at the Alexander Road intersection.

A caller advised that wildlife was being spotlighted from a truck driving on SR 231 just south of SR 2.

Odessa Police responded after being told about a car parked in front of Schmitt Insurance, was still running, and that the driver was asleep in the front seat.

After discovering a bicycle in the alley in the 200 block of Division Street, a caller advised Odessa Police she heard voices in a nearby garage that shouldn't have been occupied.

Dec. 9: A man reported losing keys near the Davenport Post Office.

After encountering a tractor being driven by an unlicensed driver in the 400 block of SE Regent, Wilbur Police advised its owner not to allow his sixth grade son to operate it again in the municipal limits.
