Titan boys win one, lose two in last week's league games

O-H vs. ACH

Varsity

On Tuesday, January 8, the O-H Titans were defeated by the Almira-Coulee/Hartline Warriors, 50-57, at an away game played in Coulee City. The Titans led in the first quarter, but the Warriors had a high-scoring second quarter that sent the teams into the locker rooms with a 27-27 tie at halftime.

Stetson Sanford led the scoring with 19 points, Markus Smith 11, Justin Hunt 10, Madison Charlton 6, and Sam Schafer and Cade Weber 2 each.

Schafer pulled down 9 rebounds for the Titans.

O-H vs. Wellpinit

Varsity

Wellpinit played the Titans in Harrington on Friday, January 11, getting the win over O-H, 58-52.

Markus Smith led the scoring with 15 points for the Titans, followed by Weber 14 and Sanford with 12. Charlton and Hunt had 3 each, Tanke and DeWulf 2 each and Schafer 1. Sanford, all 5’8” of him, led the Titan rebounding with 10.

Junior varsity

Wellpinit’s JV had a very difficult time against the Titan JV. The Titans outscored them 65-46.

Nick Tebow led the scoring with 15 points, followed by Shane Whitaker with 14, Trevor King 11 and Carsen Weber 10. Dakota Largent, Dylan Shockley and Justin Hauge had 5 points each for the night.

“Dylan Shockley played hard defense and forced several turnovers which resulted in easy transition baskets,” said JV coach Larry Weber.

O-H vs. Wilbur-Creston

Varsity

Saturday’s game was also in Harrington against the Wilbur-Creston Wildcats. It was a very close game, with the Titans coming out on top, 59-58. Head coach Travis Schuh said, “Stetson (Sanford) made the game winner with .8 seconds left to win the game.”

After a slow start in the first quarter, the Wildcats came roaring back to take the lead by 1 at the half. It was neck-and-neck after that.

Cade Weber was top scorer for the Titans with 17. Hunt had 11, Sanford 10, DeWulf 9, Charlton 7, Smith 3 and Schafer 2.

Junior varsity

The JV team again took a lopsided win in this contest, with Carsen Weber finishing the night with 17 points. Tebow had 12, Hauge 8, Whitaker 6, King 4 and Shockley 2.

“Defensive pressure forced a large number of W-C turnovers,” said JV coach Weber. He added that Hauge had done an excellent job on the boards in this game.
