Letter to the Editor: Reader voices concerns about new "Common Core"

Odessa area parents will want to know more about the Odessa School District’s new “Common Core” curriculum before subjecting their children to it. Be informed. It touts the Muslim religion over Christianity. It teaches Communism is superior to Capitalism. It includes new depths and heights in data-mining student behavior and performance. U.S. public schools began as community-centered projects under parental control in the 19th Century. Today, they have morphed into government-run propaganda machines. What do you think will be the mandate for public education with the center of control in Washington, D.C. under the Obama regime? If our heads are still spinning over the fact that a surprisingly large number of Americans were actually stupid enough to elect a Marxist community organizer, again, wait until “Common (or, rather, Communist) Core” has its effect upon the future voters of this nation.
