O-H golf team gets win at home in first match

The Odessa-Harrington golf team had its first outing after only two weeks of practice on Tuesday, March 18, at the Odessa Golf Course. The Titans got the team win with a total score of 260, followed by Wilbur-Creston with 268, Davenport 274 and Northwest Christian 276. ACH also had one individual entry but no team score.

The Titans have only a boys' team this year. Of the girls playing in the tournament, only Wilbur-Creston and Davenport sent teams, while ACH had a single entrant. O-H and NWC did not have entrants in the girls' bracket.

For the Titans, senior Madison Charlton was the leader with a score of 46, outplayed only by Palmer Gulke of Davenport, who was medalist with a score of 43. Griffey Powell of O-H had a 48, William Mann 53, Thorsen Wehr 53 and John Tanke 60.

For their first outing, coach Sam Read said he was pleased with the performance of his team and felt they were doing well for only two weeks out on the greens.

The Titans' next match will be in Wilbur on Monday, March 24.
