Titan tennis team gets WIAA Distinguished Team Award

The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA), Dairy Farmers of Washington, and Les Schwab Tires are excited to announce the 2015 Spring Team Academic State Champions for baseball, golf, boys soccer, softball, tennis and track and field.

The Odessa-Harrington Titan tennis team has qualified for a Distinguished Team Award. The team is coached by Rachel Roberts of Harrington. Team members have a cumulative grade point average of 3.480.

The award program was created not only to recognize and reward teams that maintained the highest grade-point averages in their sport and classification, but also to acknowledge the teams with GPAs over 3.0. If a team averages a 3.0-3.49 GPA they qualify for the Distinguished Team Award, while a team with a GPA between 3.50-4.00 receives the Outstanding Team Award.

Schools that win an Academic State Championship also receive points toward their pursuit of the WIAA/National Guard Scholastic Cup, the most prestigious WIAA award given to each school with the best finish in their respective classifications based on athletic competition, academic performance and sportsmanship.

Academic State Champion Teams will be invited to attend the State Championship of their sport where they will be honored.
