Town Council

Committees filled

At its most recent meeting, the Odessa Town Council ratified the composition of the standing committees recommended by Mayor Lois Hubbard. The committees are used to enhance communication and coordination of issues before they are presented to the council as a whole, and they meet and report as necessary.

The finance/administration committee consists of Terry Goetz and Kelly Watkins. Goetz and Watkins also comprise the personnel committee. On the police committee are Landon Lobe and Bill Crossley, while the fire department committee includes Goetz and Marlene Kramer. The airport committee includes the airport manager (currently Stan Dammel) and Lobe. The committee responsible for oversight of the town’s buildings comprises Kramer and Lobe. The town park and pool are overseen by Lobe and Crossley. The cemetery committee consists of Kramer and Watkins. Goetz and Crossley are on the streets committee, and Crossley and Watkins make up the water supply committee. The solid waste committee consists of Kramer and Watkins, and the sewer committee comprises Lobe and Crossley.

The mayor is also a member of every committee unless a conflict of interest is determined by the council.

Wastewater treatment

Public works director Rod Webster was accompanied by council members Goetz and Crossley when a visit was made to Royal City to see the cost-saving improvements made to their treatment plant through a grant program.

Spring Fling street closure

The council approved the closure of Division Street in the downtown business district from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the car show to be held in conjunction with Spring Fling on April 29 and 30.
