Martha Janke

Martha Janke passed away July 24, 2017 in Odessa at the age of 96. Martha was born on September 29, 1920 in Marsh, Montana to Gotthilf and Johanna Speck. She moved to Odessa at the age of 14 to live with her aunt and uncle, Jacob and Lydia Speck. She later met Daniel Janke and the two got married in 1939.

She is survived by three daughters, LaVern Strawn, Ellen (and Jerry) Schafer and JoAnn Hardt; six grandchildren, Kurt Strawn, Kelley (Alejanara) Strawn, Marlon (Melissa) Schafer, Dana Schafer, Jason (Kim) Hardt and Jesse (Jennifer) Hardt; and 10 great grandchildren Ian, Owen, Andrew, Sam, Molly, Stefanie, Amanda, Logan, Cameron and Hayden and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Daniel in 1987, three brothers and two sisters.

She was a member of Central Washington Grain Growers, Krupp Union Grain Growers, Marlin Presbyterian Church and Ladies Aide. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, sewing, crocheting and crafts.

Memorial services will be held Friday, August 4, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Heritage Church in Odessa, with Pastor Jon Hayashi officiating.
