More wins for Tigers in football and volleyball

Football

The Tigers got another lop-sided win last Friday in Yakima against the Yakama Tribal team. Quarterback Camden Weber, out of action last week due to an injury, was partially back in action, along with Jett Nelson. Weber completed three of six pass attempts for 36 yards and also rushed for a touchdown. Nelson had an even better game, completing 11 of 12 pass attempts for 212 yards and four TDs, while adding another five yards rushing.

Gaven Elder led the team in receiving, catching five passes for 129 yards and two TDs. Marcus King caught four passes for 40 yards receiving and Colton Hunt caught three for 62 yards and two TDs.

King led in rushing with 86 yards on six carries and two TDs. Brady Walter carried nine times and gained 77 yards, also scoring two TDs.

On defense, King set the pace with seven solo tackles and one assist, with Pilot Weishaar adding five solo tackles and one assist and Lane Lobe contributing four solo tackles. Lobe also pulled down the opposing quarterback for the team’s only sack of the game.

Freshman defender Keith Strebeck also pulled in an interception for the Tigers.

Volleyball

The Odessa Tiger volleyball team won their away game against the Wellpinit Redskins on October 21 by a score of 3-0.

Game one: 25-15 Tigers

Game two: 25-19 Tigers

Game three: 25-10 Tigers

Caitlyn Schuh led the team in aces with six, while Brenna Carstensen led with 16 assists. McKennah Davison put up one block, while teammates Amber Smith, Maleah Davison and Maddy Wagner had five kills apiece. Wagner also led the team with13 digs.

On Tuesday of this week, the Tigers took on their long-time nemesis ACH, losing in three straight.

Game one: 25-17 ACH

Game two: 25-18 ACH

Game three: 25-7 ACH

McK. Davison led in service aces with three. Carstensen led in assists with seven. Ma. Davison and Wagner had three kills each to lead in that category. Smith had six digs.
